tears. "I'm so sorry."
Trynt grabbed Matt, burying his face in his husband's neck
and breathing in his scent. "You're here now, it doesn't
matter. You're alive."
Matt peppered Trynt's faces with soft kisses. "I'm here. I'm
home. And I'm not going anywhere."
Trynt pulled back and gazed at him. "Promise? I can't do
this again, Matt," he confessed, overcome with emotion. "It
nearly killed me; I've never hurt so much."
Matt's tears fell at the pain laced in Trynt's voice. "I
promise. I'm not going anywhere." He caressed Trynt's jaw.
"What can I do to make it better?" he asked, wanting to do
anything he could to take away his husband's pain. "I didn't
want to hurt you."
"You didn't hurt me, and it's not your fault," Trynt stated,
letting Matt see he didn't blame him. "I just was worried and
scared that I'd lost you forever." He wrapped his arms around
Matt's neck tightly, refusing to let him go. "But you're
home...." He kissed Matt again just because he could. "I just
needed you, everything's fine now. All I wanted was you
home for Christmas. I was terrified that you were hurt, lost or
had been captured," he admitted with an uncontrolled
shudder. "And each day that went by made it worse. I didn't
want to believe you were gone."
"I'm here." Matt rested his forehead against Trynt's as
they kissed. "Right here, right where I belong."

"I missed you so much," Trynt breathed against his
husband's lips. "Missed everything about you."
"I missed you too." Matt held him close, comforting and
soothing his husband with soft caresses and kisses. "I'm
sorry, so sorry I put you through this. I should've made them
get me home sooner, and I should've never written that
letter."
"No," Trynt disagreed, gazing at Matt with tears in his
eyes. "It was beautiful, and it meant so much to me. I just
didn't want you to say good-bye. I didn't want you to be gone
forever; there is no life for me without you, Matt."
"Feeling's mutual." Matt caressed Trynt's cheek, wiping
away his tears. "No more good-byes, I'm never leaving you
again," he promised, tone soothing. "I'm yours forever."
"And I'm yours. Can you tell me what happened?" Trynt
asked in a near whisper. "Ease my mind that it wasn't as
terrible as the scenarios in my head."
"Of course." Matt kicked the door shut with his foot.
"C'mon, let's go sit on the settee."
Trynt took Matt's greatcoat off. "Let me see first. I need to
see that you're all right."
Matt kissed his husband as they went and sat on the
settee, understanding his husband's need. Trynt unbuttoned
Matt's shirt with shaking hands, then opened it to reveal his
broad chest covered in bandages and bruises. Matt stayed
silent, letting Trynt reassure himself as his husband ran loving
fingers over his sore and bruised skin then placed gentle
kisses everywhere before moving up Matt's neck to his face
where he kissed him lovingly, Matt returned the kiss trying to

take away all the pain and replace it with comfort as he
stroked Trynt's back.
"You're so beautiful," Trynt whispered. He cupped Matt's
face as he kissed the cut over his eye and traced the one
along his cheek. "Duw, Matt... I'm so glad you're all right."
Matt pulled Trynt into his arms. "I'm just fine now that I'm
with you."
"Likewise." Trynt tucked his head under Matt's chin as he
wrapped his arms loosely around Matt's waist hesitantly,
likely fearing hurting him but wanting to hold on and that was
just what Matt needed. He watched as Trynt listened intently
to the steady beat of his heart. Matt threaded his fingers
through Trynt's hair kissing him now and again as he felt the
tension and fear leave his husband.
Trynt looked up at him, seeming to suddenly realise
something. "Why didn't you use your key?"
Matt chuckled, wondering if Trynt was going to ask that
question. "I lost it when I got injured but..." He reached into
his pocket and pulled out the pocket watch. "It still works.
Has a dent, though."
Trynt put his hand over Matt's. "What happened, Cariad?"
Matt sighed heavily. "I took out five Messerschmitts this
time before I was hit. I got out again, just in time, but I hit
my head during the explosion and was knocked unconscious.
I woke up, and it was so cold and dark." He shuddered, and
Trynt intertwined their fingers as he kissed Matt's neck. Matt
buried his face in Trynt's hair for a moment, relishing the
warmth and comfort of his husband. "I knew I had to keep
moving so I set up off toward what I thought was the base

camp. Luckily it wasn't snowing and the moon lit my way
through the fields until I found a platoon. They took me back
to base where I got medical care and was ordered home to
rest and recover. I had to wait for the boat back, or I'd have
been home sooner. I'm so sorry, love."
Trynt pressed another kiss to Matt's collarbone. "It wasn't
your fault," he repeated. "You tried letting me know. I wish I
had received the message, but all that matters is you're all
right."
Matt tilted Trynt's face up and kissed him softly. "I love
you so much."
"I love you more than you'll ever know."
"I need to shower, eat and sleep, but I don't want to let
you go." Matt held on to his husband tighter.
"Who said you had to? We can do all those things
together," Trynt suggested with a small smile.
Matt broke into a grin. "I love the way you think." [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
