Summary
In the paper a structural analysis of revitalised office building is presented. The aim
of modernisation and extension was to obtain additional open space, not restricted by
columns and walls.
The analysis based on the continuous connection method has been carried out. In
this approach the bands of horizontal connecting beams and vertical joints are
substituted by continuous connections. A diaphragm action of all floors is taken into
consideration as the effect of its in-plane infinite rigidity and negligible transverse one.
The height to width ratio of the shear walls is such that each wall may be treated as an
open thin-walled beam. The BW for Windows program [Wdo93i], developed by the
authors, has been used for computations. The preprocessors of program collate data
from the schema made by the AutoCAD system. The quick interpretation of results is
possible due to the set of some postprocessors, which visualise displacements, stress
distribution in the walls of the structure and the shear force intensity function in vertical
bands of connecting beams and vertical flexible joints.
In our paper models of shear wall structures in the modernised part as well as the
new adjacent part have been shown. The presented figures include normal stresses
distribution at the base of the structure. The short period of time necessary to obtain the
results of the analysis has allowed for a fully interactive structural design. [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
